Akron nips Barker in key N-O field hockey game

Maintaining sole possession of first place, Akron nipped defending champion Barker 1-0 this afternoon in a key Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game.

Sara Schultz scored the lone goal for Akron at the 18 minute mark of the first half off an assist from Abby Stone.

Madison Krzykowski earned the shutout in the cage for the Lady Tigers.

Akron stays perfect at 5-0 while Barker slips to 3-1-1.

In the other N-O games, Roy-Hart evened its record at 3-3 with 3-0 win over Kenmore (0-5) and Newfane (1-4) blanked visiting Medina (1-4) 3-0.

Rielly Albee, Angelina Ciarfella and Alexis Lovewell each scored a goal for Roy-Hart.

Katie Kneeland, Brenna Sheehan and Lydia Garaughn took turns scoring the goals for Newfane.
