Akron girls set pace at All-League swim meet

Regular season team champion Akron has the top time in 9 of 11 events at the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League Girls Individual Swim championships which got underway this afternoon in a “virtual” format.

Swimmers from five of the N-O League’s six schools which have swim teams competed. Newfane was unable to compete as the Panthers boys and girls swim teams and girls varsity basketball team are currently on a Covid related pause.

Newfane swimmers are scheduled to complete their All-League races on March 3.

Akron’s CC Morey has posted the top time in both the 100 Butterfly (1:05.47) and 500 Freestyle (6:02.84).

The TigerSharks also have the leader in four other individual events including Marisa Maggiore in the 200 Free (2:14.54), Rachel PeQueen in the 50 Free (:25.99), Shea Masse in the 100 Backstroke (1:09.67) and Mayah Harris in the 100 Breaststroke (1:17.46).

Akron also has the top time in all three of the relays.  Masse, Harris, Morey and Alex Roland teamed up to post a time of 2:04.89 in the 200 Medley. Morey, Maggiore, Roland and PeQueen combined for a time of 1:49.55 in the 200 Free. Roland, Maggiore, Masse and PeQueen then posted a time of 4:12.41 in the 400 Free.

Roy-Hart’s Amanda Hill has the top time in both the 200 Individual Medley (2:24.56) and the 100 Free (:55.77).
