Akron girls score key win over Roy-Hart

Taking over sole possession of first place, Akron scored a 66-36 win over visiting Roy-Hart in a key Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game this evening.

Akron stays perfect at 5-0 with in the while Roy-Hart slips to 2-1.

Lexie Ground scored 16 and Abby Gerstung and Olivia Novak both tallied 15 to lead the way for Akron.

Adella Dukes paced Roy-Hart with 13 as Courtney Aquilina and Brooke Corser both had 6.

Leading by narrow margins of 24-20 at the half and 38-30 after three quarters, Akron locked up the win by outpointing Roy-Hart 28-6 in the final stanza. Ground scored 7, Gerstung 6 and Novak 4 during that key stretch.

In the other N-O games, Wilson downed Albion 46-28 and Newfane defeated Medina 56-34.

Emily Phillips scored 13, Kairi Beck 12 and Isabella Thrush 8 to lead Wilson’s balanced attack.

Julia Knight scored 8, Cami London 7 and Kenzi Snook 6 to lead Albion.

Anna Chunco scored a game high 19 points to lead Newfane as Kameryn Boyer added 12 and Bailee Patcyk 10.

Honesty Hill scored 13 and Alexa Demmer 9 to pace Medina.

N-O Standings: Akron 5-0, Newfane 3-1, Roy-Hart 2-1, Wilson 2-2, Albion 1-3, Barker 0-3, Medina 0-3.
