Akron girls rally in fourth quarter to edge Roy-Hart; Barker downs Medina

A big fourth quarter scoring burst rallied Akron for a 38-35 win over host Roy-Hart in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game.

Trailing 30-26, Akron rattled off 12 straight points to regain the lead for good at 38-30.

Sloan Jonathan scored 4 points, Katie Leeds and Gracie Leiker 3 and Ashlee Henning 2 during that clutch Lady Tigers rally.

Roy-Hart scored the game’s final five points but could not pull even as a long distance shot at the buzzer was off target.

Leeds finished with 15 to lead Akron as Melanie Holtz added 8, Jonathan and Isabella Jones 4, Leiker 3 and Rachel Dugan and Henning 2.

Kaitlin Mettler took game high honors with 18 for Roy-Hart as Lila Brigham netted 8, Alexis Cacciatore 6 and Juliana Buscarino 3.

Akron improves to 3-0 to stay tied for the N-O lead with defending champion Wilson which downed Albion 55-17.

Wilson held leads of 20-2 after the first quarter and 32-4 at the half. Taylor LeFrois led Albion with 7.

The loss drops Roy-Hart to 1-3.

Barker 40, Medina 28
Snapping a season opening three league game losing streak, Barker bested visiting Medina 40-28.

Cole Carnes scored 11, Mia Herman 8 and Lillia Peace 7 to spark Barker which held leads of 9-8 after the first quarter, 20-14 at the half and 28-22 at the three-quarter mark.

Rylee VanNostrand scored 18 and Stella Poler 8 for Medina which slips to 0-3 in N-O action.
