Kendall girls lock up G-R title

Staying in the title chase, Akron defeated Medina 4-1 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer game.

Paige Buscaglia scored two first half goals to spark Akron which improves to 11-1-1.

Emilee Austin scored in the final minute of the second half for Medina which slips to 4-9.

Wilson maintained a hold on first place by downing visiting Roy-Hart 3-0 to go to 11-0-2 on goals by Marina Muth, Kayla Newman and Lauren Austin. The loss drops R-H to 5-8.

In the other N-O contest, Newfane (9-3-1) romped past CSAT (1-12) 9-0.

Kendall 3, Byron-Bergen 1
Rallying from an early 1-0 deficit, Kendall rebounded to defeat visiting Byron-Bergen 3-1 this evening to lock up the Genesee Region League title.

Byron-Bergen grabbed a 1-0 lead on a goal just five minutes in by Shawna Abrams.

Kendall though answered right back with the equalizer just six minutes later on a goal by Taylor ReQua.

The Lady Eagles then moved on top to stay on a goal by Nicole Browe later in the first half.

Maya Rutland added an insurance tally for Kendall in the second half.

Kendall improves to 11-1-2 in G-R action (12-1-2 overall) while runner-up Byron-Bergen slips to 9-2-3.

Wheatland-Chili 1, Lyndonville 0
Wheatland-Chili made an early goal stand up for a narrow 1-0 victory over host Lyndonville this afternoon.
