Akron girls down Lyndonville/Medina; Kendall posts volleyball win over Northstar

Leading 2-0 at the half, Akron used a lighting quick three goal scoring burst early in the second half to break away for a 7-1 win over Lyndonville/Medina in a non league girls soccer game this afternoon at Vets Park.

Kara Sequin scored all three goals during that key stretch for Akron at the 32, 31 and 29 minute marks of the second half.

Sequin also scored Akron’s first goal of the day and Julia Goerge added a penalty kick later in the first half for the 2-0 lead at the break.

Ella Lewis scored the lone goal for Lyndonville/Medina which next visits Attica on Saturday morning for a Genesee Region League game.

In a Niagara-Orleans League game, Newfane (1-1) blanked Barker (0-2) 6-0 as Rachel Chunco had 3 goals and Taylor Heschke, Cora Harding and Angelina DiTulio 1 each.

Kendall 25-25-25, Northstar 22-16-16
Kendall bested Northstar in straight sets 25-22, 25-16, 25-16, to improve to 2-0.

Autumn Woodward went 30-31 from the service line with a career high 18 aces for Kendall. She highlighted runs to to bring the Eagles from behind for wins in both the first and second sets.

Woodward also had 8 kills and 8 digs as Brittney Marks had 9 digs, 5 kills, and 5 assists, and Madison Nardi and Sara Mattle each added 4 kills.
