Three run scoring bursts in each of the first three innings sparked Akron to a 14-3 victory over host Albion this afternoon in the Niagara-Orleans League softball opener.

Abby Stone had two doubles and a single, Neely Abrams two singles and a double with 5 RBIs and Darion Jonathan a single, double and triple with 3 RBIs to lead the way for Akron.

Sierra Newton drove in two runs for Albion.

Albion Coach Cathy Schmitt gave plenty of credit to the school’s grounds crew for getting the varsity and JV softball fields ready for the games which were originally scheduled to be played at Akron. “Our grounds crew did just an outstanding job in getting both fields ready,” said Schmitt.
