Completing an 11-1 league championship campaign, Akron downed host Albion 9-2 this afternoon to close out the Niagara-Orleans baseball season.

Andrew Romesser went the distance on the mound for Akron scattering 8 hits and striking out 6. He also helped himself at the plate by banging out 3 hits.

Dawson Stone and Vince Consiglio also both had a pair of hits for the Tigers.

Amari Jones had 3 hits for Albion.

Akron jumped out to an early 3-0 lead by scoring twice in the second inning on a double by Ryan Owen and a single by Romesser and once in the third on a double by Jack Julicher.

Albion did cut the deficit to 3-2 by scoring twice in the third on a two-run single by Jack Kinter but the Purple Eagles could not cross home plate again. Singles by Nate Gibson, Amari Jones and Javon Jones loaded the bases to set up that threat.

Akron pulled away by scoring twice in the fifth on a double by Consiglio and a wild pitch and then four times in the sixth on a single by Dawson Stone, a sacrifice fly, a wild pitch and an error.

Albion finishes the N-O season at 4-8.
