Akron cagers sweep Lyndonville
Akron scored a doubleheader victory over Lyndonville this evening in non league basketball action.
The Akron boys posted a 52-42 home court win over Lyndonville as Weylon Abrams scored 14 and Nelson Logan 8 to lead the way.
Abrams scored 12 in the second period as Akron outpointed Lyndonville 21-8 to turn a 10-7 first quarter deficit into a 28-18 half-time advantage.
Akron maintained a 39-28 lead at the three-quarter mark and then got a key three down the stretch from Logan to help lock up the win and improve to 3-0 on the young season.
Zach Johnson and Matt Hess each scored 12, Nathan Poler 10, Ricky Forder 6 and Nathan Dillenbeck 2 for Lyndonville.
The Akron girls trimmed host Lyndonville 43-39. Trailing 28-27, Akron rallied to outpoint Lyndonville 16-11 down the stretch to claim the win.
Darion Jonathan led Akron with 22.
Ella Lewis scored 20 to set the pace for Lyndonville as Miranda Lembcke and Anna Lewis each added 7.
Lyndonville led 9-6 after the first period but Akron rallied into a 15-11 half-time advantage.
