Akron bows in state field hockey playoffs

Highly ranked Whitney Point (Section IV) romped to an 11-0 victory over Akron in the quarterfinal round of the state Class C field hockey playoffs this afternoon at Pittsford Sutherland.

Undefeated (16-0) Whitney Point, which is ranked No. 1 in the state and No. 4 in the nation, built up a 4-0 half-time advantage.
