Akron bests Medina in N-O cross-country

Improving to 3-1, Akron edged past host Medina 27-29 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League cross-country meet.

Zach Sanford finished second and Josh Kidder fifth to lead the way for the Tigers.

Medina’s Cameron Castenon won the race in 18:46. His Mustangs teammates Arian Cayea and Alwyn Cayea finished third and fourth respectively.

Medina is now 1-3 heading into next Tuesday’s regular season ending tri meet against Barker and Roy-Hart at Barker.

The Akron girls completed the sweep defeating Medina 18-43 to remain undefeated at 4-0.

Akron’s Lauren Wagner won the race in 21:20.

In all the Lady Tigers took four of the top five places as Kaila Szczygielski finished second, Kayla Murray third and Emma Esposito fifth.

Corinne Hill placed fourth and Hannah Heil sixth for Medina which is now 2-2.
