Top seeded Akron and No. 2 Barker both scored shutout victories this evening in the Section VI Class C field hockey semifinals at Clarence.

Niagara-Orleans League champion Akron downed No. 5 Eden and Barker bested No. 3 Wilson by the identical score of 2-0.

Abby Enfield scored in the first half and Heather Cummings in the second half for Akron.

Madison Kizykowski earned the shutout in goal for the Lady Tigers.

Barker got first half goals from Ciara Gregoire and Katrina Clare, off an assist from Jillian Moeller, to down N-O League foe Wilson.

Cara Fox registered the shutout in goal for the Lady Raiders.

Defending champion Akron will now face Barker for the Class C title at 1 p.m. Saturday at Orchard Park.

The Lady Tigers downed the Lady Tigers twice during the N-O season by scores of 2-0 and 4-0.

It marks the eight time in the last nine years and the 10th time in the last 14 years that Akron and Barker have met in the Class C finals. Akron won last year’s title 3-1 but Barker had captured the previous 8 championship meetings.
