Akron, Barker stay tied for first with wins

Defending champion Akron blanked visiting Medina 5-0 and Barker downed host Wilson 3-1 this afternoon to remain tied for the Niagara-Orleans League field hockey lead at 10-1.

Rebecca Breymeier scored three goals for Akron as Alexis Bell and Abby Stone each added one.

The loss drops Medina to 4-7.

Barker jumped out to a 2-0 half-time advantage on goals by Jillian Moeller and Ciara Gregoire.  The Lady Raiders added an insurance goal in the second half by Rachel Hurtgam.

Liz Soles scored for Wilson (5-6).

Newfane snapped a season long 11 league game losing streak by downing Kenmore (1-10) 2-0 on goals by Kaylee Christy snd Madison Bunn.
