Akron, Barker and Roy-Hart post N-O field hockey shutout wins

Undefeated (9-0) front-running Akron blanked Medina 9-0 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game at Vets Park.

Lacey Berghorn scored 5 goals and Olivia McClaine 4 to lead the way for Akron.

Medina is now 2-5-2.

Runner-up Barker improved to 7-1 with a 2-0 win over Wilson (2-7).

Laci Giarla scored late in the first quarter for what proved to be the game winner for Barker as Natalie Bruning added an insurance tally late in the third quarter.

Roy-Hart improved its record to 6-3-1 by shutting out Newfane (1-8) 3-0 on goals by Ashton Becker, Lexiss Diel and Justine Laverty.
