Akron ‘9’ scores N-O win over Barker

Scoring in five different innings, Akron downed Barker 12-5 in a Niagara-Orleans League make-up baseball game this morning at Barker.

Akron took the lead for good by scoring two quick runs in the first inning on a two-run single by winning pitcher Ryan Owen. A single by Hunter Haist followed by two walks loaded the bases to set up the opportunity.

The Tigers quickly upped the lead to 6-1 by scoring four times in the second on a two-run single by Anthony Consiglio, an RBI single by Owen and a run producing sacrifice fly by Haist.

Akron also scored four times in the fourth frame on two double steal plays, an RBI single by Jackson Odachowski and a bases loaded walk to up the advantage to 10-1.

Owen also had an RBI sacrifice fly in the fifth and Haist an RBI single in the sixth to round out the Tigers scoring.

For Barker, Noah Sandolfini had a triple in the second inning and came home on a fielders choice play and Isaac Monaco belted a three-run triple to highlight a four run fifth inning for the Bulldogs.

Owen went the distance on the mound for the Tigers allowing 5 hits and striking out 6.

Haist had a total of 3 hits as Owen and Consiglio both had two.

Akron is now 2-0 and Barker 0-2 in N-O action.
