Akron ‘9’ edges past Medina
One big scoring inning keyed Akron to a narrow 5-4 victory over Medina this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League game under the lights at Vets Park.
Trailing 1-0, Akron bunched all of its runs into a big five run fifth inning highlighted by a two-run double by Jon Nowakowski.
Medina did answer back with one run in the fifth on an error and two more in the sixth on an RBI single by Brad McPherson and a run producing triple by Tyler Ames but the Mustangs could get no closer.
The Mustangs other run came in the third inning on a single by Brian Fry which followed a single by Ames.
Medina is now 5-7 and Akron 3-9 in N-O action.
