Albion did cut the deficit to 2-1 by scoring in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by JJ Downs but the Purple Eagles could not cross home plate again.

Akron picked up two big insurance runs in the sixth inning on an error and a sacrifice fly by Connor Borchert.
