Actives, Vets post shutout wins in Albion Midget League season openers

Actives shutout Holley 8-0 and Vets blanked Rotary 3-0 to highlight Saturday’s Albion Midget League season opening action.

Kyle Woolston pitched 4 innings and Anthony Freeman 2 to combine for Actives shutout win.

Freeman also banged out a triple and home run and Amari Jones chipped in with 2 hits.

Thomas Furmanski pitched a no hitter with 18 strikeouts for Vets.

Shawn Allen also hurled 4 innings of no hit ball for Rotary.

Barre defeated Carlton Elks 17-2 as Kyle Pappalardo and Cade Wolcott both had 3 hits. Pappalardo also teamed up with Alex Gibson and Zander Meadkin to hurl a 4 hitter.

Sandstone downed St. Mary’s 9-1 as Bailey Blanchard hit a three-run homer.

Pat Ricker and Rylend Callicutt both had 3 hits for Sandstone and Blanchard 2. Ricker also hurled a 3 hitter with 10 strikeouts.

For St. Mary’s, Reuben Rivers had 2 hits.
