Accused murderer to be arraigned Thursday in Rochester

ROCHESTER – A Monroe County grand jury has indicted Holly Colino for second-degree murder of Megan Dix of Lyndonville.

Colino will be arraigned in Monroe County Court at 2 p.m. on Thursday. In addition to murder, she has been indicted on six counts of criminal possession of a weapon, escape and menacing.

Colino is accused of shooting Dix on Aug. 25 while the 33-year-old-wife and mother was taking her lunch break at a parking lot on South Avenue. Dix was seeking some peace and quiet on her break at Lowe’s.

Colino, 31, grew up in East Rochester. She had been living in Arizona. Brockport Police Chief Daniel Varrenti said the murder was a random act of violence. Dix did not nothing wrong to provoke the attack, the police chief said.

Colino also allegedly pointed a gun at the head of an employee at Sticky Lips BBQ in Henrietta. She also allegedly bolted from a sheriff’s department substation, but was taken back into custody after a chase.
