Accent is on youth for Kendall track teams
Underclassmen dominate the key members of the Kendall track teams which are prepping for the Genesee Region League opener at home against Lyndonville on Wednesday.
Sophomore Brianna Wakefield, who won the 1500 and placed third in the 3000 at last year’s Section V Class D championships, sophomore Madison Jacob, who took third in the 400 Hurdles, and senior Jenna Regan, who placed fourth in the Shotput, head the Lady Eagles squad which also includes four promising freshmen, Alezya Brown (Shotput, Triple Jump, Sprints), Emma Allen (400, 800 and 1500), Kiersten Rodas, T’Mia Kitchings and Kailie Regan.
The Kendall boys squad is led by the quartet of sophomore veterans Ethan Kuhn (Hurdles, Sprints, Pentathlon) and Joseph Nettles (400, 800 and 1600) along with newcomers junior Dale Steffen (Hurdles, Sprints, Pentathlon) and sophomore Derek Edick (Long Jump, Triple Jump, Sprints). Kuhn won the G-R Pentathlon last spring.
