Academy Stars nip Dynamites

The Academy Stars got their revenge for a recent loss in the Boys of Summer opening tournament championship game by nipping the Dynamites U11 travel team 11-10 Tuesday.

The Dynamites got into an early deficit trailing 7-0 after two innings. They responded with 5 runs in the third with two outs on walks and some key hits as Thomas Russo’s double plated one run and Joe Cecchini and Aidan Paul each drove in 2 runs on base hits.

The Academy Stars continued their hitting and got the lead back up to 5 after the fourth.

However, the Dynamites responded with another big inning in the fifth by tying it up with 5 runs. Amari Jones, Jay Heideman,, Cecchini all had hits and Brian Baes had a bases loaded double,  Kaeden Wisniewski drove in the game tying run with a single.

The game was tied after 5 and darkness sitting in. The Dynamites were unable to hold off the Stars in the sixth as with two outs and the bases loaded the winning run scored on a controversial call at first base.

Russo, Jones, Ryan Mettler, and Xander Payne all had appearances on the mound.

The Dynamites get another chance at the Stars with a game on today in Hartland.
