Medina downs Cleve Hill in softball opener
Rebounding from an early four run deficit, Medina rallied to defeat Cleveland Hill 13-7 this afternoon in the Mustangs non league season opening softball game at wind swept Vets Park.
Cleve Hill scored four quick runs in the top of the first but Medina answered right back with a two-run homer by Camri King in the home half of the frame.
Medina then moved on top to stay at 7-4 in the third inning as a three-run triple by Morgan Allis highlighted a big five run uprising.
The Mustangs then put the game away by scoring twice in each of their last three at bats.
Lacey Kenward and King both had run producing doubles in the four frame and Abi Neuman banged out a two run triple in the sixth.
Ashlee Howell finished with three hits for Medina as King and Kenward both had two.
Kenward and Cora Payne shared handling the pitching duties.
The Mustangs next host Central Christian Academy in a non league game at noon on Saturday.
Albion postponed
The Albion at Batavia non league game was postponed.
Baseball
Alexander 14, Barker 4
Trailing 4-3, Alexander rallied for two runs in the fourth inning and nine more in the fifth to earn a 14-4 non league win over Barker.
Nate Heidemann had a two-run single in the third inning for Barker which also got hits from Aidan Voss and Zach Richbart.
