Panthers look to extend title run at N-O All-League wrestling Tourney Saturday at Albion
Newfane will be looking to extend its lengthy title reign when the Niagara-Orleans League wrestling season concludes with the annual All-League Tournament on Saturday at Albion beginning at 9 a.m.
Newfane, which compiled a 5-0 record during the dual match portion of the season, is seeking its sixth straight N-O championship. The Panthers, in fact, have gone 30-0 in N-O dual match competition over the past six years.
The Panthers closest challenger is Akron which went 4-1 during the dual match competition followed by Albion at 3-2, Medina 2-3, Wilson 1-4 and Roy-Hart/Barker 0-5.
Akron won the All-League tourney last year but a second place finish was good enough to earn Newfane its fifth straight title.
In the tourney’s individual weight class competition, Colby Petrie from Medina and AJ Schafer from Roy-Hart/Barker, both seniors, will be seeking to defend their league titles.
