Albion, Medina split in N-O swim opener

Albion and host Medina both came away with a victory this afternoon to open the Niagara-Orleans League swim season.

Albion won the boys meet 102-68 and Medina took the girls competition 132-33.

Harrison Brown doubled in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Free and Matt Kovaleski took both the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke to lead the way for the Albion boys as Sam Sanchez took the 100 Butterfly and Thomas Furmanski the 100 Backstroke.

Sanchez was also a member of all three winning relays while Brown, Kovaleski, Furmanski and Ryan Krenning were each on two.

Ray Paull won the 50 Free and August Pietrafesa the 500 Free for Medina.

Hannah Heil doubled in the 50 Free and 100 Free and Brooklyn Brown took both the Individual Medley and Butterfly for the Medina girls as Margaret Klotzbach took the 200 Free, Corinne Hill the 500 Free, Olivia Carter the Backstroke and Grace Cogovan the Breaststroke.

Amanda Woodruff was on all three winning relays for Medina as Carter, Heil and Rebecca Lunden each were on two.

Albion next hosts Roy-Hart on Thursday and Medina visits Akron on Friday.

Roy-Hart sweeps Barker

Roy-Hart swept past Barker winning the boys’ meet 108-53 and the girls’ contest 125-36.

The Roy-Hart boys were led by a trio of double winners as Michael Miller took the 200 Free and 100 Backstroke, Carter Green the Individual Medley and 500 Free and Will Rickard the 50 Free and 100 Free.

The Roy-Hart girls were led by double winners Kayla Hagen (200 Free, 500 Free) and Amanda Hill (50 Free, 100 Free).

In the other N-O opener, Akron swept Newfane winning the boys’ meet 91-73 and the girls’ 107-63.
