Medina spikers rally past Newfane
Rebounding from an opening set loss, Medina battled back to defeat visiting Newfane 23-25, 25-9, 25-15, 25-15 in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match this evening.
Medina pulled even by taking the second set 25-9 as Elle Gross served up four straight aces to close it out.
Earlier in the set Maddie Williams scored points 5-9, Camri King 11-13 and Ayzha Pitts 17-19, each with two aces.
Keeping the momentum the Mustangs then took the lead for good by capturing the third set 25-15 as Devin Griffin served up points 12-17 for a 17-7 lead and Williams closed it out by scoring points 23-25.
Medina then capped off the match with another 25-15 win in the fourth set as Gross sparked that victory by serving up points 1-8.
Gross finished with 5 aces and 6 kills, King 5 kills and 2 aces, Williams 5 aces and 3 kills, Jordan Lugo 2 kills and Brandi Guild 10 digs.
Medina is now 3-4 in N-O action and Newfane 1-5.
Roy-Hart 25-29-25, Wilson 17-27-19
Roy-Hart scored a straight set win over Wilson to improve to 6-1 and maintain a share of the N-O lead.
Aspen Moore had 23 kills and 5 aces, Ella Brown 5 blocks and 3 kills, Kristina Burdick 12 assists and Paige Dent 15 assists and 10 service points to lead the way for the Lady Rams.
The loss drops Wilson to 3-3.
Lyndonville 25-25-25, Holley 16-11-17
Lyndonville bested host Holley in three straight sets in a Genesee Region League match as Alecia Hinkson had 7 kills and 4 aces and Natalie Ostrowski 3 aces and 8 assists.
Pembroke 17-25-21-25-25, Kendall 25-21-25-19-17
Pembroke outlasted Kendall in five sets in another G-R match as Dakari Moss had 17 kills and 8 aces and Mackenzie Jurek 10 aces and 2 kills.
Jenna Regan had 11 kills and Brittney Marks 12 assists and 19 digs for Kendall.
