Bradley has first Ironman podium finish

Enjoying his best finish to date in an Ironman competition, Lyndonville native Scott Bradley recently earned his first Male Pro Awards Podium by finishing 5th at the 70.3 Eagleman competition in Maryland.

The 70.3 Triathlon is a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile (half marathon) run.

Bradley, whose total time for the day was 4:03.17, placed 5th out of 19 Male Pros and 5th overall out of 1,642 entrants in the race.

He finished the swim portion of the event 16th out of 19 Male Pros in 29:20 but quickly climbed to 6th place by posting the third fastest bike time of the day. His strongest of the three disciplines, his time of 2:03.51 on the bike was the second fastest of his career and fastest in an Ironman competition. He rode at an average speed of 27.13 mph.

Bradley finished the big day with a run of 1:24.43 which earned him the 5th place overall finish.

In his previous competition, Bradley finished 19th out of 41 Male Pros and 21st overall out of 2,354 participants at the Texas 70.3 at Galveston. His total time for the day was 4:01.24 was the second fastest 70.3 time in his career.

Coming out of the water in a personal record time of 29:08, Bradley quickly climb from 38th to 12th place among the Male Pros by riding the fifth fastest bike time of the day 2:06:15.

Then with the third fastest run of his career (1:22.11) he finished 19th out of the 41 Male Pros.

Bradley, who is the Assistant Principal at Byron-Bergen Junior-Senior High School, will next compete in the Ironman Mont-Tremblant on August 19. This will be his one full triathlon for the year.
