Sandstone scores 3 close Midget League wins

Improving to 5-0, Sandstone scored three narrow wins this past week in Albion Midget League action.

Sandstone first rallied from a 6-3 deficit to score seven runs in the sixth inning to key a 10-8 win over Carlton. A three-run homer by Seth Krening highlighted that uprising. Nick Martino also had a two-run double in the first inning.

For Carlton, Dominic Jurs had a three-run homer and Finn McCue a home run.

Sandstone next outlasted Barre 15-14 as Cencere Lowe had a grand slam home run and Joey Schoeberlein a two-run double. Lowe and Krening both had 2 hits.

Jason Conn and Owen Bentley both banged out two-run triples for Barre. Conn, Bentley and Nate Gibson each had a pair of hits.

Sandstone capped off the week with a 4-3 win over Rotary as Martino had an RBI triple and Jaeger Smith a single.

Jacob Edwards had a double and Lukas Powley 2 hits for Rotary. Edwards also registered 13 strikeouts on the mound.

St. Mary’s 12, Barre 3
For St. Mary’s, Jack Kinter went 4 for 4 on the day with 2 doubles and 2 singles.  Kyle Radder added 2 more hits and Xavier Penafiel added another.

For Barre, Conn had 2 hits including a home run.  Bentley also added a double and a single and Gibson a double.

Barre 13, Vets 10
Conn lead the way for Barre going 4 for 4 on the day with 2 triples, 2 singles and 7 RBI’s.  Zach Vancott added 2 singles and Cami London a triple.

For the Vets, Brandon Nashburn and Peyton Robinson had 2 hits each.

Carlton 7, St. Mary’s 4
Lee Fleck had a double and triple with 2 RBIs and Caidyn Wilson an RBI double for Carlton. On the mound, McCue and Dylan Narburgh combined for 14 strikeouts.

Kinter hit a three-run homer for St. Mary’s.
