Medina and Roy-Hart romp to set up Class B2 sectional semifinal softball meeting

Erupting for eight runs in each of the first two innings. No. 4 seed Medina went on to defeat No. 5 Olmsted 20-2 this afternoon in a Section VI Class B2 quarterfinal softball game at Vets Park.

Top seeded Roy-Hart likewise used a big 12 run first inning scoring surge to key a 26-1 romp over No. 8 Gowanda at Akron.

That sets up a Medina vs. Roy-Hart B2 semifinal on Monday which is expected to be played at Akron.

A two-run double by Ryenn Oliver and a two-run single by Abi Neuman highlighted Medina’s eight run first inning which also benefitted from six walks.

Brandi Guild, Ashlee Howell, Oliver and winning pitcher Lacey Kenward then all had run producing hits in the second inning.

Morgan Allis also hit a solo home run for the Mustangs.

Maddie Fry, Maddy Glena, Mallory Steiner and Jayden Townsend each banged out 3 hits and Lexie Lovewell and Kayla Brown 2 to lead Roy-Hart’s 22 hit barrage.  Brown and Townsend both hit home runs. Brown had 5 RBIs and Lovewell and Steiner 3 each.

In the other B2 quarterfinals No. 2 Eden defeated No. 7 Wilson 16-3 and No. 6 Akron edged No. 3 Cleveland Hill 3-2.

In a Class B1 quarterfinal No. 2 Fredonia defeated visiting No. 7 Albion 11-1.

Natalie DiCureia had 2 hits for Albion as Lexi Wolck and Sierra Newton each had 1.

In Class C, Holland trimmed Barker 3-1.
