Purple Eagles win with big 7th inning rally

Albion put together a huge rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to nip visiting Wilson 7-6 this afternoon to close out the Niagara-Orleans League baseball season.

Trailing 6-1, the Purple Eagles erupted for six runs in the decisive final frame to finish the regular season at 8-4 in the league and 12-4 overall.

An RBI triple by Liam Ward and a run producing wild pitch got Albion rolling in the final frame.

Consecutive RBI singles by Isaiah Callicutt, Michael DiCureia and Addison Christ then pulled the Purple Eagles at 6-6.

Then, following a single by Vinnie Zona, Austin Dugan drove in the winning run for the Purple Eagles with a successful squeeze bunt.

Ward and Callicutt both finished with a pair of hits.

Wilson, which is now 5-6 in the league, built up the 6-1 lead on a two-run single by Jackson Rotella in the first inning, a two-run home run by John Bender in the fourth and a two-run double by Tanner Feeley in the sixth.

Oakfield-Alabama/Elba 13, Lyndonville 10
Oakfield-Alabama/Elba pushed across three error aided runs in the seventh inning to outlast Lyndonville 13-10 in a Genesee Region League game.

Lyndonville had rallied from a 6-1 deficit to knot the contest at 6-6 by scoring five times in the fifth inning highlighted by two-run singles by Bryce Seddon and Zach Johnson.

The Tigers later retied the contest at 10-10 by scoring four times in the sixth on two-run singles by Russell Stephens and Luke Isaacson but could not take the lead.

Devin Rounds had 3 hits for the Tigers as Johnson and Oskar Heinsler both added 2.

Kendall 14, Barker 7
A big six run first inning scoring burst ignited Kendall to a 14-7 non league win over Barker.

A two-run double by Jeremy Browe highlighted that big Eagles scoring surge.

Mason Kuhn had 4 hits, including a pair of triples, for Kendall as Browe and Mickey Gardner both had 2 hits.

Attica 5, Holley 4
Matt Skehan had 4 hits, including a double, and Sammy Lammes registered 6 strikeouts on the mound for Holley in the narrow 5-4 G-R loss to Attica.

Roy-Hart 11, Grand Island 6
Maddie Fry had 4 hits and winning pitcher Mallory Steiner 2 for Roy-Hart in the 11-6 non league win at Grand Island.

Lyndonville 18, Notre Dame 3
Anna Lewis had 4 hits, including 2 home runs and 6 RBIs, Cassie Boyce 3 hits, including a double and 5 RBIs and Stacy Buckland 3 hits to lead Lyndonville past Notre Dame 18-3 in a G-R game.
