Rebounding from an early six run deficit, Medina came storming back to defeat champion Roy-Hart 13-6 in the Niagara-Orleans League baseball season finale this afternoon at Gasport.

Trailing 6-0, Medina rallied into the lead by exploding for seven runs in the fourth inning on RBI singles by Matt Saj and winning pitcher Chris Goyette, a hit batter, a bases loaded walk, a suicude squeeze bunt by Alex Allis and a two-run error.

Keeping the momentum, the Mustangs quickly built the advantage to 11-6 by scoring four times in the fifth frame on an RBI triple by Zach Fike, a wild pitch and a two-run single by Allis.

Chris Goyette went the distance on the mound for the Mustangs.

In avenging an earlier season 8-1 loss, the Mustangs later tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the seventh as Brian Fry came home on a double steal play and Brett Riemer banged out an RBI double.

Goyette went the distance on the mound for the Mustangs blanking the Rams on just 1 hit with 5 strikeouts over the final five innings.

Roy-Hart though did get off to a fast start scoring two quick runs in the first inning on RBI singles by Ben Schwab and Gavyn Boyle.

The Rams quickly made it 6-0 by tallying four times in the second inning on RBI singles by Charlie Bruning and Schwab, a run producing triple by Jake Bruning and a fielders choice play off the bat of Al Xapsos.

However, the Rams could not cross home plate again as Goyette and the Mustangs defense turned in a shutout the rest of the way.

Roy-Hart, which had already locked up a third straight N-O title, finishes the league campaign at 10-2 and Medina at 8-4.
