Roy-Hart sweeps Medina in N-O track opener

Snowflakes were in the air as host Roy-Hart swept Medina this afternoon in a chilly season opening Niagara-Orleans League track meet.

Roy-Hart nipped Medina 71-70 in the boys competition on a win in the meet ending 1600 relay by the Rams quartet of Hunter Pratt, Will Rickard, Aidan Bligh and Jamasen Johnson.

Johnson was also an individual event double winner in the 100 and 200 for the Rams which also got wins from Mark Sanders (400), Nathan Bower (Discus), Jon Huntington (Shotput) and Aaron Curry (Long Jump).

Dan Heil was a double winner in the 800 and 1600 for Medina which also had Connor Miller win the 110 Hurdles, Trenton Crews the 400 Hurdles, Lincoln Pace the High Jump, Aiden Cayea the 3200 and Hunter Heil the Triple Jump.

The Roy-Hart girls downed Medina 91-41 as Anna Rickard doubled in the 1500 and 3000 and Ellie Todd in the Pole Vault and 200.

The Lady Rams also had Nadia White take the 400, Rylee Young the Long Jump and Kelsey Ciemny the 800.

Olivia Carter was a triple winner in the 100, 400 and Triple Jump and Miranda Zelazny doubled in the Shotput and Discus for Medina as Devin Griffin took the High Jump and Sarah Cochrane the 100 Hurdles.

Newfane sweeps Akron

Newfane defeated Akron 125-12 in the boys meet and 79-62 in the girls competition.

The Newfane boys had Andrew Boudeman triple in the 100, Long Jump and Triple Jump;  Thorne Geise  double in the 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles and Reese Casinelli in the 200 and 400.

Lauren Boudeman doubled in the 100 and 200 and Kim Goerss in the 1500 and 300 for the Newfane girls.

The Akron girls had Amanda Swader double in the Shotput and Discus and Jen Robnett in the Long Jump and Pole Vault.

The Wilson at Albion meet was postponed.

The girls 100 hurdles also saw a 1-2 Medina finish as Sarah Cochrane, right, edged out Devin Griffin, left. However, the host Lady Rams took top honors in the meet.
