Purple Eagles prep for N-O track season

Boasting large numbers and a good returning nucleus, the Albion boys track team is prepping for the April 19 Niagara-Orleans League home opening meet against Wilson.

Anchoring the Purple Eagles lineup is a quintet of high All-League meet place finishers including junior Tre Yaskulski (1st in both 110 Hurdles and Triple Jump), senior Preston Flugel (1st in Pole Vault), sophomore Brilliance Johnson (3rd in 100), junior Nate Moore (4th in 100) and junior Kirk Ellison (4th in Shotput).

The Purple Eagles, which went 4-2 in N-O competition last spring, are also looking to senior Jerio Chudy (Pole Vault), junior Ugene Harrison (200, 400) along with sophomores Sam Sanchez (200, 400), Kyle Pappalardo (Distance) and Nick Perry.

The Albion girls squad is likewise led by a quintet of high All-League meet place finishers including junior Kirsten Struble (2nd in 400, 4th in 200), eighth grader Briana Haines (3rd in Pole Vault), junior Emma Mathes (4th in 1500), senior Hannah Grammar (5th in 800) and sophomore Ashlyn LeBaron (5th in Discus).

The Purple Eagles, which are looking to rebound from last year’s 1-5 N-O record, are also looking to junior Mal Adams, sophomores Breanda Johnson (Shotput), Sophia Zambito (Jumps), and freshmen Alana Holman (Distance) and Claire Squicciarini (100).

May: 1 – at Medina, 3 – at Newfane, 8 – Roy-Hart, 10 – Barker, 16 and 17 – All-League meet at Roy-Hart
