Cooper, Emborsky earn Niagara-Orleans League’s Player of the Year honors

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Medina’s Jalin Cooper and Newfane’s Paige Emborsky have earned Niagara-Orleans League basketball Player of the Year honors.

Two seniors who helped lead their teams to league titles this season, Medina’s Jalin Cooper and Newfane’s Paige Emborsky, have earned Niagara-Orleans Player of the Year honors.

Cooper, who set school records for most points in a season (468) and a career (1,383) along the way, helped key Medina to a share of a third straight N-O title which the Mustangs shared with Newfane at 10-2. He also had 209 rebounds, 73 steals and 49 assists.

In addition to his point totals, Cooper also finishes his four year varsity career with 759 rebounds, 219 steals and 186 assists.

Emborsky poured in 479 points (21.7 ave.) this season in helping to lead the Lady Panthers to an undefeated (12-0) N-O championship campaign. She also had 76 rebounds, 65 assists and 53 steals.

A five year varsity player, Emborsky compiled a career total of 1,498 points.
