Roy-Hart sophomore Kayla Hagen has been selected as the Niagara-Orleans League Female Swimmer of the Year.
Hagen finished with the highest point total for Roy-Hart for the second year in a row with 164 points. She finished with 16 individual wins during the regular season scoring 106 points nd was also a member of R-H relay teams that earned 21 wins.
This year, Hagen set new R-H individual event records in the 100 Freestyle (:55.13) and 100 Backstroke (1:04.56) and was also member of the relay teams that set new school marks in the 200 medley (1:59.17) and the 400 Free (3:52.14). The 400 Free Relay time is also a new N-O League record.
During the season she swam in every event at least once, either in a league or non league meet.
“Kayla is an outstanding young woman,” said R-H Coach Dottie Barr. “She is always kind and considerate to others, puts her teammates first, and encourages and cheers her team on during every race. She is a true team player. Kayla shows her true character as a Roy-Hart athlete by wishing her opponent’s “Good Luck” before each race and “Congratulates” them after the race is completed. She always carries herself in a positive and cheerful matter. Her smile is contagious, it never leaves her face during a Swim Meet!”
