Avenging a 51-45 loss on Thursday, Medina defeated visiting Roy-Hart by a nearly identical margin of 52-42 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball make-up game.

Divere Brown scored a career high 21 points and Je’ne Brown had 19 to lead the Medina attack as Camri King added 6 and Maddie Williams and Kharise Johnson 3 each.

Skyler Christopher led Roy-Hart with 13 as Lexi Lovewell and Maddie Fry both added 7, Ellie Todd 6, Ashley Hill 5 and Delaney Draper 4.

Medina jumped out to a 17-13 first period lead as Divere Johnson scored 9, including a three, and Je’ne Brown 8.  Lovewell had 5 and Christopher 4 for Roy-Hart.

The Mustangs stayed even at 20-20 at the half despite managing only five scattered free throws in the second period. Hill had a three and a layup during that stretch for the Lady Rams which did grab a brief lead at 22-20.

Back-to-back baskets by Christopher gave Roy-Hart what proved to be its last lead at 28-26  early in the third period.

Medina though answered back with a key 9-0 run on a pair of rebound baskets by Je’ne Brown and a jumper and a three by Divere Brown to regain the lead for good at 35-28.  A late layup by Je’ne Brown kept the Mustangs up by five, 37-32, at the three-quarter mark.

A layup by Draper and a three-point play off a layup by Christopher pulled Roy-Hart back to within two, 39-37, early in the final period.

Medina though moved back out to a 44-37 lead after a layup by King and a jumper by Divere Brown.

The Lady Rams did rally back to within two one more time at 44-42 after a three-point play and a pair of free throws by Fry but could not pull even.

Williams then hit a big three to give Medina a little breathing room and Divere Brown capped off her big afternoon with a jumper and a three to close out the Mustangs first N-O win of the season.

Medina is now 1-7 and Roy-Hart 1-8 in N-O action.
