Mustangs, Purple Eagles post road wins
Medina and Albion both scored victories on the road this evening in Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball competition.
Medina defeated Barker 71-45 to improve to 3-1 while Albion boosted its N-O record to 3-2 by knocking Wilson (3-1) from the ranks of the unbeaten by a 47-31 margin.
Jalin Cooper scored 18, Izaiah Rhim 15 and Mason Lewis 11 to lead the way for Medina as Tyler Chinn added 8, Nate Sherman 7, Brendan Luthart 5, Alex Allis 3 and Brian Fry and Tavian Rhim 2.
Zach Richbart scored 13 to led Barker which slips to 0-3.
Medina jumped out to a 20-9 first period lead and held a 39-15 advantage at the half. Cooper scored 8 in the first period and 6 in the second to lead that surge.
Albion used a balanced attack to down Wilson as Deyonci Farley scored 14, Liam Ward 10, Demetrius Gardner 8 and Bryce Pritchard 7.
Albion jumped out to a 16-8 first period lead as Pritchard tallied 5, Ward and Farley 4 and Xavier Cornick 3.
The Purple Esgles upped the advantage to 28-12 at the half.
Mac Musall led Wilson with 8.
Newfane 58, Akron 36
Undefeated (4-0) Newfane took over sole possession of first place by downing Akron 58-36.
Kyle DeVoogel scored 19, Brandon Gross and Chad Dunbar 10 and Max Weber 8 for the Panthers which led 28-15 at the half. Weber also had 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
