Elba girls best Lyndonville; Medina bows

Pulling away with a big second period scoring surge, Elba went on to post a 58-18 victory over host Lyndonville this evening in a Genesee Region League game.

Leading 15-7, Elba erupted for an 18-2 second period scoring burst to open up a commanding 33-9 half-time advantage. Two threes by Maddie Muehlig and one each by Leah Bezon and Taylor Augello highlighted that surge.

Elba went on to lead by  44-18 margin at the three-quarter mark.

Emily Reynolds led Elba with a game high 19 points as Bezon netted 18 and Muehlig 12.

Ella Lewis scored 6, Alecia Hinkson 5 and Savannah Poler 4 for Lyndonville.

In other G-R games, Wheatland-Chili defeated Kendall 47-15 and Byron-Bergen downed Holley 56-28.

Mt. St. Mary’s 67, Medina 47
Jumping out to a 20-10 first quarter lead, Mt. St. Mary’s went on to defeat visiting Medina 67-47 in a non league game.

Mt. St. Mary’s went on to lead by margins of 36-24 at the half and 53-36 at the three-quarter mark.

Je’ne Brown led Medina with 24 as Maddie Williams and Maleyah Brewer 6, Shamaria Howard 4, Kharise Johnson 3 and Divere Brown and Camri King 2 each.

Akron, Wilson split
Akron and Wilson split in a pair of Niagara-Olreans League make-up games, Akron won the girls contest 42-36 and Wilson the boys 49-30.
