Flood warning issued for Lake Ontario
The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a lakeshore flood warning from 7 a.m. Wednesday to 2 a.m. Thursday for Orleans, Niagara and Monroe counties.
The above-average lake levels, combined with strong northeast winds and building wave action, make the south shore of Lake Ontario vulnerable to erosion and flooding, especially at low-lying areas near bays and inlets, the Weather Service said.
Residents are urged to take precautions to protect property.
