Purple Eagle booters best Mustangs

Getting goal production from five different players Albion rolled to a 6-1 victory over visiting Medina/Lyndonville this morning in a Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer game.

Albion jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half as Thomas Hollenbeck scored off an assist from Spencer Lombard at the 25 minute mark and Kendyll Hadick tallied from Nate Scanlan with two minutes to go.

The Purple Eagles then broke the contest open by scoring twice in the first 13 minutes of the second half. First Scanlan scored off an assist from Noah Goudreau and then Hollenbeck tallied from Hadick.

Medina/Lyndonville got on the scoreboard when Matt Hess scored with seven minutes remaining.

However, Albion got that one right back with interest as Lombard scored from Tre Yaskulski and then Brad Sanford tallied off an assist from Hadick.

Devin Gaylord and Angel Colon shared in earning the win in goal for the Purple Eagles which snapped a season opening three league game losing streak.

Albion and Medina/Lyndonville are now both 1-3 in N-O action.

Newfane 9, Akron 1
Scoring two quick goals in the first nine minutes, defending champion Newfane (5-0) romped to a 9-1 victory over Akron (0-2-1) in this morning’s other N-O game.

Trevor Moreland had 3 goals, Mateo May 2 goals and 2 assists, Jarrett Gilson 2 goals and Trevor Heschke 1 goal and 3 assists to lead the way for the Panthers.

Newfane 2, Wilson 0
A pair of second half goals by Kayleigh Daniels earned Newfane (4-0-1) a 2-0 victory over rival Wilson (3-2).  Madalyn Traverse made 9 saves to earn the shutout in goal.
