Large senior group leads Lady Eagles
A large contingent of 10 seniors anchors the lineup for the Kendall girls varsity soccer team which will open Genesee Region League competition on August 30 with a home game against Notre Dame.
Midfielder Taylor ReQua, who had a team leading total of 19 goals last fall, heads that senior group which also includes midfielders Kayla Summers, Megan Hardenbrook and Michela Hanlon along with defenders Adrianna Passarell, Raine Oakley, Lyndsay Wright, Andrea Villalobos, Megan Cochran and goalie Hannah Ulmen.
The Lady Eagles also return junior Brooke Lawson (midfield); sophomores Hailee Mitchell (midfield), Lizzie Sutphen (forward), Katherine Pearson (goalie) and freshman Brianna Wakefield (midfield).
“We’ve got a real strong returning core of players,” said Coach Pam Barchet.
Kendall’s graduation losses include defenders Lizzie Rath, Kacey Menge, Katie Wright and Jenna LoSapio.
“Some of our players who will be new starters have some big shoes to fill,” said Barchet.
Kendall went 9-4 in G-R competition and 13-6 overall last year.
The Lady Eagles early season schedule will be highlighted by their annual tournament on September 7 and 9. Kendall will face Albion in the opening round.
