Local players earn All-State diamond honors
Several local players have earned spots on the All-State baseball squad.
In Class C, Holley pitcher Dylan Hillabush has been named to the first team and Barker pitcher Eddie Wasnock to the second team. Both are June graduates.
In Class D, Lyndonville is represented by a trio of June graduates who helped lead the Tigers to the Section V Class D1 title this spring. They include first baseman Eric Neace who was named to the second team, pitcher/shortstop Mike Wells who was selected to the fourth team and pitcher/outfielder Jacob Hoffee who was named to the fifth team.
Also in Class D, Notre Dame placed junior shortstop Evan Bender on the third team and senior third baseman Dylan D’Alba on the fifth team.
In Class B, John Bender, who will be a senior at Wilson this fall, was named to the third team. He has also earned first team All-Western New York honors.
Hillabush, who will be pitching for Niagara University, hit .364 with 2 doubles, 1 home run and 6 RBIs this spring. On the mound he went 4-1 with 1 save, 66 strikeouts in 31 2/3 innings and a 0.884 earned run average.
Wasnock, who will be pitching at SUNY Fredonia, hit .433 with 3 doubles and 9 RBIs. He went 4-3 on the mound with a 2.05 era.
Neace hit .537 with 7 doubles, 4 home runs and 29 RBIs.
Wells went 6-1 on the mound and had 2 saves and a 1.14 era. At the plate, he hit .477 with 3 doubles, 1 triple and 26 RBIs.
Hoffee hit .523 with 12 doubles, 5 triples, 1 home run and 15 RBIs. He went 4-1 on the mound with a 2.65 era.
Bender hit .596 with 8 doubles ,1 triple and 4 home runs.
