Tigers top Hawks to claim division title

Putting a lock on a fourth straight Division 2 title, Lyndonville romped to a 14-2 victory over host Holley this afternoon in a Genesee Region League baseball game.

Up 5-0, Lyndonville broke the contest wide open by exploding for 9 runs in the fifth inning as Corey Hydock had a two-run single and Eric Neace and winning pitcher Mike Wells RBI singles. Zach Johnson also banged out a pair of doubles in the marathon frame which was also aided by 3 errors and a bases loaded walk.

Earlier, the Tigers scored once in the first on a double by Neace, which followed a triple by Jacob Hoffee, once in the second on a sacrifice fly by Hoffee and then 3 times in the third on a two-run single by Kain Flynn and an RBI single by Cody Bentley.

Johnson finished with a total of 4 hits, Hoffee 3 and Hydock, Neace, Wells and Bentley 2 each.

On the mound, Wells scattered 7 hits and struck out 6.

Lyndonville, which has the G-R’s best overall record is now 9-1 in the league and 13-1 overall.
