Mustangs stickmen roll past Lakemen

Exploding out to a 12 goal lead in the first 10 minutes, Medina went on to defeat Wilson 22-4 this afternoon in a Class D Division lacrosse game at Vets Park.

Jake Cotter scored 5 goals to spearhead the Mustangs early scoring burst, the last of which made him the Mustangs career goal scoring leader with 182. That total breaks the old mark of 181 held by Kyle Barna who is now a sophomore at Pfeiffer University.

Mason Lewis and Brendan Luthart also each scored a pair of goals while Ian Joseph, Coby Albone and Mike Carson each chipped in with one as Medina built up a commanding 12-0 lead.

The Mustangs led 14-1 at the end of the decisive period as Carson and Luthart both scored again in the final minute.

The Mustangs maintained a 19-3 advantage at the half as Christian Silversmith tallied twice in the second period.

Cotter finished with a total of 6 goals, Luthart 4, Silversmith 3, Lewis, Albone and Carson 2 and Joseph, Joe Gates and Luke Wilson 1.

Cotter now has a total of 53 goals on the season, Luthart 40, Albone 27 and Lewis 24.

Medina improves to 7-2 in the division and 9-3 overall while Wilson slips to 0-8 in the division.
