Raiders down Purple Eagles; Rams win

Barker avenged an earlier season 6-5 loss by downing visiting Albion 9-1 and front-running Roy-Hart bested Newfane 5-1 to remain unbeaten at 4-0 to highlight this afternoon’s Niagara-Orleans League baseball action.

Eddie Wasnock went the distance on the mound for Barker scattering 6 hits and striking out 7.

Barker took the lead for good by scoring 3 runs in the second inning on a double by Wasnock, a single by Ryan Voss and an error. A double by Collin Webb set up that threat.

The Raiders later scored 4 big runs in the fourth frame highlighted by a two-run single by Voss and an RBI single by Chauncey McKee.

Barker is now 3-4 and Albion 5-3 in N-O action.

Roy-Hart 5, Newfane 1
Charlie Bruning, Eric Fitch and Ben Schwab combined to hurl a 1 hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead  defending champion Roy-Hart past Newfane 5-1.

Roy-Hart moved on top to stay by scoring twice in the third inning on an RBI double by Al Xapsos and a fielders choice play off the bat of Charlie Bruning. A double by Tim Maines set up that opportunity.

Maines also had an RBI single in the sixth inning and Jake Bruning added a pair of hits.

The loss drops Newfane to 0-6.

Akron 15, Medina 14

Akron outlasted visiting Medina in a wild 15-14 contest as the Tigers rallied for 4 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

A two-double by Morgan Smith capped off the Tigers last ditch rally which was also aided by 2 errors and an RBI single by Collin Frey.

Medina had rebounded from an 11-5 deficit into a 14-11 lead by scoring 7 times in the sixth inning on triples by Nate Sherman, Ricky Pitts and Matt Saj along with doubles by Brett Riemer and Alex Allis and singles by Brian Fry and Chris Goyette.

Akron is now 2-4 and Medina 1-4 in N-O competition.

N-O Tennis

Akron improved to  4-1 by downing Wilson (3-3) 3 1/2-2 as Nate Chubb won at first singles and Cierra Janis at third singles.

The Tigers also got wins from the doubles teams of Alex Warren-Dustin Earle and Skyler Earle-Sara Hoefler.

Wilson earned wins by Kyle Lyon at second singles and by the first doubles team of Mike Pazik-Mia Olear.

Roy-Hart evened its record at 2-2 by defeating Newfane (0-6) 5-1/2 as Patrick Sheelar, Caleb Reith and Madigan Lang all scored singles wins.

The Rams also got wins from the first two doubles teams of Cameron VanBuren-Rachel Hutter and Mason Collins-Bea Bacon.
