Lyndonville grapplers downed by Akron
Six forfeit losses proved to be the difference as Lyndonville dropped a 45-30 non league decision to visiting Akron this evening despite winning six of the eight bouts that were decided on the mat.
Lyndonville jumped out to an early 18-6 lead after consecutive pins by Chase Stinson (113) in 2:30, Reese Ledford (120) in a lightning quick 9 seconds and Jeff Gress Jr. (126) in 1:16.
Two forfeit wins briefly pulled Akron even at 18-18 but Lyndonville regained a 21-18 lead after a narrow 2-1 overtime decision win by Dustin Joy (145).
A decision win by Dustin Hinkley (160) kept Lyndonville up 24-21 but the next four bouts and the victory belonged to Akron.
A quick 29 second pin by Jacob Sarow (170) put Akron back on top to stay at 27-24. Three straight forfeit wins, at 182, 195 and 220, then boosted the visitors advantage to 45-24 with just one bout remaining.
Lyndonville closed out the match on a high note as Frankie Carrasquillo (285) registered a quick pin in 1:08.
