Medina, R-H spikers win sectional openers
Medina and Roy-Hart both scored straight set victories this evening in the pre-quarterfinal round of the Section VI Class B2 volleyball playoffs.
No. 9 Medina defeated host No. 8 Tonawanda 25-17, 25-17, 25-17 and No. 6 Roy-Hart downed visiting No. 11 Lackawnna 25-7, 25-10, 25-9.
Emily Kams had 6 spiking kills and 7 assists, Grace Masse 3 aces, 3 kills and 11 assists, Je’ne Brown 8 kills, Molley Gross and Maddie Williams 4 kills each and Carley Schultz 3 aces and 3 kills to lead the way for Medina.
The Mustangs will next visit top seeded City Honros on Friday.
Bea Bacon had 12 kills and 4 aces, Brianna Brewer 18 service points, 9 of which were aces, Aspen Moore 4 kills and Becky Jones 8 points, 5 of which were aces, for Roy-Hart.
The Lady Rams will next visit No. 3 Buffalo Arts on Friday.
In Class C1, No. 8 Wilson outlasted No. 9 JFK 17-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-21, 25-14 to earn a trip to top seeded Akron on Friday.
Rachel Blasius had 13 kills and Brooke Wisor 7 aces for the Lakewomen.
