Niagara-Orleans League champion top seeded Akron (12-0) will begin defense of its Section VI Class C field hockey title by hosting No. 8 Medina (1-11) at 3 p.m. Monday.

The Lady Tigers, whose scoring has been led by Heather Cummings (15 goals) and Abby Stone (10 goals), defeated Medina twice during the N-O season by the identical score of 5-0.

Monday’s other quarterfinal matchups will have No. 5 Eden (6-10) at No. 4 Roy-Hart (7-5), No. 6 Newfane (3-9) at No. 3 Wilson (8-4) and No. 7 Holland (4-12) at No. 2 Barker (9-3).

Wilson downed rival Newfane twice during the N-O campaign by scores of 2-0 and 3-1.

The winners will advance to Wednesday’s semifinal round.
