A lone first half goal proved to be just enough as No. 9 seed Wheatland-Chili edged past No. 8 Genesee Region League foe Kendall 1-0 this evening in the opening round of the Section V Class D1 boys soccer playoffs at Kendall.

The teams had split a pair of regular season G-R meetings.

Kendall finishes the season at 8-8-1.

The No. 5 seed Kendall girls will also host a G-R foe in the opening round of the Class D1 playoffs as the Lady Eagles entertain No. 12 Lyndonville at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Kendall, which brings an 11-5 record into the sectionals, scored a 3-0 win during the G-R season over Lyndonville which is 6-10.
