Lady Tigers roll to victory in Class D2 semifinal as Sturtevant hurls no hitter

Led by the no hit pitching effort of Arnie Sturtevant, top seeded Lyndonville blanked No. 4 Andover-Whitesville 12-0 in the semifinals of the Section V Class C softball tournament at Genesee Community College this afternoon.
Sturtevant, who also helped herself at the plate by banging out4 hits including a pair of doubles and a triple, was perfect in the circle with no hits and no walks with 6 strikeouts over the five innings of the run rule contest.
Brooke Robinson, Isabella Groves and Hannah Fox also each had a pair of hits for the Lady Tigers. Fox drove in a total of 4 runs.
Improving to 18-1, Lyndonville will now face No. 2 Avoca-Prattsburg for the Section V Class D2 championship at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Livonia. A-P downed No. 3 Elba 9-5 in the other semifinal.
Leading 1-0, Lyndonville broke the game open by erupting for 5 runs in the third inning highlighted by a two-run triple by Sturtevant and singles by Alexa Robinson, Groves and Rylan Townsend.
The Lady Tigers then put a lock on the victory by scoring 3 times in both the fourth and fifth innings. Fox had an RBI single in both innings and Sturtevant had a double in both frames.
Section VI Class C
Barker 3, Clymer-Sherman-Panama 1
Breaking away from a 1-1 deadlock, No. 2 seed Barker scored twice in the sixth inning on a two-run double by Melodi Murphy to edge visiting No. 6 Clymer-Sherman-Panama 3-1 this afternoon in the semifinals of the Section VI Class C softball tournament. Singles by winning pitcher Madyson Flint and Peyton Bradley set up the opportunity.
In the circle, Flint hurled a two hitter with 13 strikeouts.
Barker will now face No. 5 Falconer in the Class C championship game at 5 p.m. Friday at Olean. Falconer downed No. 1 Wilson 5-3 in the other semifinal.
