State Police release name of 17-year-old who drowned in Royalton
ROYALTON – State Police on Wednesday identified the 17-year-old boy who died on Aug. 10 while swimming in a pond in Royalton.
Quinn J. Cratsenberg of Royalton went under water and did not resurface in the pond near Deer View Drive.
Numerous first responders entered the water in an attempt to locate Cratsenberg. It wasn’t until more than two hours later that he was found in about 10 feet of water by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team at 8:53 p.m.
State troopers and first responders were initially called to the scene at 6:42 p.m.
Cratsenberg was transported to Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office pending autopsy.
There are no signs of foul play, State Police said.
